Staff at Gason today celebrated the enormous contribution of long-time employee Greg Gason.

Greg joined Gason in January 1982, and this year clocked 40 years of dedicated service.

Former workers, friends, and family joined the current staff at a special morning tea to acknowledge Greg’s service.

Speakers recognized Greg as a tireless innovator who drove new ideas and products and was always approachable.

After graduating from university with a degree in mechanical engineering, Greg worked as the Engineering Manager under his mentor Les Stack; he later oversaw Technical Services before becoming Agricultural Division Manager.  Greg has served as a Director on the board for 30 years.

Fellow engineer and former Gason employee Richard Davis said Greg was an asset to the company.

“I had the pleasure of working with you for 24 of the 25 years I was in the company, during which there were a lot of memorable experiences and friendships made.” Mr Davis said.

“At the end of the shift, many of us would head home and think of anything but work, but Greg would spend many long hours outside of work, often planning and strategizing late at night.”

Neil Harvey worked alongside Greg in Research and Development; He said Greg was always thinking about others.

“I found you approachable, and you always thought about other people,” Mr Harvey said.

“You looked after me when I had a bad back, and I’ll always remember that.”

Gason Managing Director, Wayne Gason, proudly stated that Greg had made a tremendous impact.

“Your commitment to the job is a shining example to many others.” Mr Gason said.

“40 years is a special milestone, one in which only a handful of people have reached, at Gason.”

In front of fellow employees, family, and friends at a special morning tea, Greg, who loves getting away with his wife Caroline, was presented with a $2000 accommodation voucher.

Greg said he had seen a lot of changes over the past 40 years.

“Computers were just starting to evolve back in those days, and the company only had a single IBM computer in the front office, the engineers used drawing boards, I still have mine in my office, but these days it just catches dust.” Mr Gason said.

“The most precious aspect of working here has been the relationships developed with fellow employees.

“I’ve been blessed with good health for most of my working life, and I have been lucky to have worked with so many talented and friendly people.”
